Another Update

Today Chad and April went and got some big items they have been saving for.

Chads been working two jobs and going to school. Chad’s been trying to put some money into savings for items their daughter. He saved enough for the travel system April wanted. And his mother sent money up for the pack and play. So today after school they headed off to Target and bought the stuff.

I’m proud of him. He has alot of weight on his shoulders. He works all the time. Actually I think too much. I do believe he may even be in violation with our state’s laws on minors working and attending school. What am I to do though. I’m just happy to give him a place to live. I wish I could afford to help him out with the baby more though. I now it’s not my responsibility, but well, you all know, I just wish I could.

April is coming close to having that baby. Oh I’ll have to ask if I can post a pic of her. WOW-it is close, she’s due April 9th! She’s at the any day mark soon!

Well, just thought I’d post a quick update. I think Chad is a bit proud he was able to get so much money together to provide a much needed necessity for his daughter. He’s going to be a good daddy. I’m proud of him!

Saturday’s shower

I got off of work for a few hours to attend April’s babyshower. It was nice.

She received quite a few outfits varying in sizes. A swing and a rocking cradle. Blankets, a bottle set, some toys and enough bath soap for about 2 tears. Atleast it doesn’t spoil! :) She got some towels and wash cloths. Laundry detergent and some Shout!  There was also a fat pink piggy bank (really cute) and some photo albums.

I didn’t finish her sweater I was making, but wrapped it and took it back. :) I just have to sew the sleeves to the sweater and get three buttons for it. Otherwise I had gotten her 3 outfits, 2 gowns, socks, onsies, booties, hat and mittens, couple of toys, and books. I found a really nice diaper bag on sale and filled it with, diapers, wipes, rash ointment, alcohol hand sanitizer, and some Tylenol.

I would also like to take her to get a nursing bra once the baby is born and if she decides to continue breastfeeding. I did find  a book that Chad gave her, I forgot to ask her if it was interesting or not though.

I got together a bunch of receiving blankets, a playmat and my bouncy seat. I’ll get that over to her soon I hope. (Really want to get it out of my living room!)

Of course there’s stuff she needs yet. I know Chad has been saving money for after the shower to see what they would need yet.

I have been so CRAZILY BUSY here I first looked at her online shower registry today at work with a coworker and realized most the stuff says available in store. I’ll have to try to go online and look up items to add.

Oceans, and Suz- I haven’t forgotten about the offers you guys have asked me about. I know I told you I would get in touch with you LAST week and I didn’t. If I don’t tonight, I WILL this week. Now…now I must run again and return my mom’s car to her. Oh I can’t wait to crawl into my snuggly bed!

Registry

My friend Ann and I went yesterday and got April’s registry done. Ann was having quite abit of fun with the scanner. I kept hearing beep beep and here she is scanning some cute booties or something! :)

We transferred everything from April’s original one too, seeing her family and Chad’s family may also be using this site. And well, as I mentioned above Ann thought there were lots of cute stuff that she needed too. April’s list was straight up basics, which we can all understand. Ann really liked the lil rubber duckies and cut outfits! :)

Anyways….. Go to Target and her registry name is…(drum roll) April Shower. Yes–I thought of that all by myself!! :)   The state is WI and arrival date is April 9th , but it works without entering the state or date.

Well, I must get my butt to bed. My work “week begins tomorrow! YUCK!!!!

Thanks again to all for visiting and being so thoughtful!

Visit with April

April came over last night.  Her belly is just a popping out! She’s ALL BABY in there! She said the baby is always up in her ribs. OUCH! She enjoys feeling the baby move and she’s got an active one. She has alot of Braxton Hick contractions and is worried about knowing when she is in labor. I assured her SHE’LL KNOW!

She was telling me about her parenting class. They earn tickets for going and after they earn so many they can receive coupons for like $5 off a baby item. How cool is that? She has a Lamaze class on the 18th.

She confessed to not wanting ANYTHING to do with an epidural. I’m with her there! I couldn’t image a needle getting poked into my spine! (I did manage natural birth with all three, but I didn’t encourage her to go that way. It most definitely is not for everybody. I also had short labors, making it easier to go natural.) She was told she MORE THAN LIKELY will go early and have a shorter than norm labor because she is a very active person. I hope, for her benefit, this is true.

School is going OK. She stated that the people that use to pick on her are now asking to touch her belly. It’s hard for her because she kinda wants to tell them off, but for those that she doesn’t know - she doesn’t really know what to say.

Her father will be taking vacation to care for his grandaughter until summer. (How sweet is that!! I guess her dad REALLY likes babies! AAAHHH!!!!) Not too sure about next school year yet. I told her about going for daycare assistance. They did look at their church’s daycare center, however she does not like the person that cares for the infants. There are lots of centers around here and I can help her search them all. Atleast they have a plan for her to finish this school year. She will attend school next year, they just don’t have a daycare center picked yet.

I’m so excited to say she has decided to try breastfeeding. I think I’m going to run out and get her a breastfeeding book today. I talked abit about it with her, but Chad and a friend were in the same room, things felt odd. I would like to buy her a nursing bra too. Honestly, I don’t think she even knew of such a thing! :)

April and her friend did register at Target and Kohl’s. She ended up using her “real” name. I did write down some of her stuff. What I think I’m going to do though, is go to Target and talk with an employee and register her stuff again under another name, and then get it so anyone that wants to can log on to it. I’ll probably add a few more things too. She mentioned she really didn’t know what to put on it. They did good though! I’m hoping to get my butt going and do that today!

Update on Chad-As many know Chad has moved in with us. He was going to stay at another friends house while Andrew (BIG POOP) is in Spain, but he’s actually been here quite abit.

I had an awesome conversation with him the other day. He stated how he did have anger towards April for deciding to parent. He said he really didn’t want to do “the Daddy thing”. But he went over to April’s house and they had a good talk.  He stated he felt very uncomfortable in front of April’s dad. He felt the anger. I’m sure we all can understand April’s dad’s anger. I told Chad, he would probably REALLY ENJOY knocking you into next year! We both chuckled and he understood. I pointed out that he’s going to have to “prove himself” to April’s dad. He agreed and is willing to do so.

I found it really cute that he sat next to April and placed his hands on her belly. He is really starting to accept it and I think he’ll do great. They aren’t together anymore. Chad and I talked how their daughter will benefit from the two of them being able to communicate and remain friends. So, that’s their goal.

Andrew never did give April the maternity pants or shirt I had for her. I told Chad to get them, he comes out wearing them, with a pillow as his belly! Once again another picture moment that I missed due to my camera being broke! (Eli spilled his juice on it!) The pants really accented his figure nicely! :)

Well, I suppose if I want to get to Target today I better get my rear in gear!

Update

I thought I should post an update on April.

Her due date is April 12th! I actually never even knew it until a few weeks ago! And how cool is it that I called her April! :)

April did register at two stores recently. So I’ll have to get the information to anyone wanting to help her out. Chad is going to bring April over tonight after her parenting class. I’ll get all the good stuff then.

Isn’t it great she’s taking a parenting class! She’s already showing what a great mother she can be!

I’m not going to make her babyshower her in town. :( I’ll be working. Oh, the joys of working weekend only. I’ll hope for a very slow day and try to get sent home! They could even put me on call. Cross your fingers! The shower here is on the 15th, so anyone interested in coming to the land of below zero weather and lots of snow, your more then welcome! (Do you shovel?) :)

I think I’ll load up Chad’s car tonight with all the stuff I’ve got for her. I have to finish the “project” I’m knitting for her. Almost done! I’ll give her that for her shower. I’ll post a picture later. (Gotta get my camera fixed!)

Well, hopefully she’ll make it over tonight and I’ll have more info for you tomorrow!

April’s shower

And here we have it…a new blog just for April!

April will be having a shower here at home, hosted by one of her friend’s mother. I too will have a shower for her, here.

I have received so many thoughtful requests to help April out, so once she registers I will post all the info.

The days have been very busy here at my place lately, so I hope to post more on updates soon.
